Welcome to IANDS - Salt Lake City Branch
By popular demand, Lynn Johnson will again be our IANDS speaker in April. You may recall he was scheduled for February, and came, but most of you did not due to the heavy snow fall that night.
Lynn, a Psychologist from Sandy, is one of the “founding father’s” of the IANDS group in Utah. In his presentation he reviewed things he’d learned from clients and the NDE’s of others and noted:
Dying is one of the funnest things you’ll ever do.
What we learn from the NDE’s of others, without having one ourselves.
- People who have had NDE’s have no fear.
- Fear is a result of thinking “I won’t be enough”
- Be optimistic – The world was made for your enjoyment!
- Keep a diary of how you would like to see the next few months turn out.
- If you want to be happy cultivate an attitude of gratitude.
- In a study on depression, those who kept a gratitude diary lost their depression.
- That reality is more real than this one, and from Joe vs the Volcano (one of is favorite movies) we are told: NDErs see the wonder in the world.
- Those who are truly awake are amazed all of time, with the wonders of this world. Note down the amazing and good things you see each day.
- Don Wood in his NDE was told he needed to tell his employees about what had happened there. He learned All are part of his family. Apparently God wants us to know these things – i.e. the world was created for our enjoyment. We should appreciate the beauty and good and enjoy the ride.
- Those who meditated on compassion – showed more positive healthier brain activity. And the effects extended to others.
- Another noted – Jesus wanted me to tell you, everyone is alike and precious in his eyes.
- There is power in personal relationships.
- Dr. Seligman, former President of the American Psychological Association found in a study that those who performed acts of service to others were happier than those who were out to have fun and please themselves. Be kind, be of service and you’ll be happier.
Lynn may touch on these topics again on Wed April 9th , but will likely go on to discuss other insights as well. If you have questions about any of this you will have an opportunity to ask him questions at that time.
Hope you can make it. As always our meeting will be held at 7:00 pm at the Salt Lake County Commission hearing room. Located at 2050 South State, County complex, North Bldg, main floor. Hope to see you there!

Leo Buscaglia said, “Most of us remain strangers to ourselves, hiding who we are, and ask other strangers, hiding who they are, to love us.”
